Day Five

Today we went to The National Science Center of India. Will and Phillip were very excited to see this, as they are very interested in science. It was only 23 cents per person, which was very nice. We got to see many a lot of contraptions that were invented in India such as the number zero and the single-roller cotton gin. The first modern gin was made by Eli Whitney, but India had cotton gins that had only one roller and were powered by water. We also got to see how the first dental surgery was conducted in 7000 BC. India had the first dental drills and completed surgery's using it. Furnaces were also first made in India, which was as big a surprise as the dental surgery. The Indians also made many mathematical achievements, which was more interesting to Mishal, Phillip, and Andrew. The number zero and the idea of calculus came from the Indians. We then went on to the second floor of the center. We got to look inside an inflatable planetarium, which Logan enjoyed more than any of us. We learned how the Indians viewed the solar system, which was close to how we view it today. After that, we learned of many of the Nobel peace prizes for science and mathematics that were earned by Indians. We learned much more, more than we can put into this blog. After the museum, we went back to the hotel. We will post again tomorrow.
